Santa Monica: Annual Report
Santa Monica is a dynamic & vibrant city, and we were tasked with creating a report that was the city’s equal. The goal was to be enticing and convey a range of information to a diverse audience as Santa Monica has the distinction for having a civically engaged community.
We created a multi-media platform for the report utilizing web, video and social components. The cornerstone of the piece is a video that features a variety of Santa Monica’s public officials speaking about it’s recent accomplishments. The video is brought to life with motion graphics, high-energy effects, and quick snapshots and infographics to bring forward important statistics and facts…features also implemented into the online report. In addition, the simple navigation provides the viewer easy access into important topics like innovation, infrastructure, mobility, special projects and more.
Principal and creative director, Joven Orozco, says the project’s challenges pushed his team to create something truly unique. “We knew this piece would have to serve many different audiences, so we had to be thoughtful about how we presented the information. Understanding that people absorb information in different ways, some quickly skim through the information, while others read more deliberately, we used our run/jog/walk philosophy for our design and architecture of the report. We wanted to create something both welcoming and accessible to accommodate all three styles,” he said.
